Admission to different courses (B.Tech, M.Tech. and MCA) of the University(BPUT) shall be based on criteria decided by the Academic Council of the University(BPUT). There shall be provision for direct admission for a limited number of NRI/FN students. Details of criteria shall be as per provisions in the rule formulated for the purpose. The University(BPUT) and the examination conducting authority Odisha JEE-2010 shall adopt the eligibility criteria as specified by AICTE/ UGC .
Placement Status
Admissions shall ordinarily close before a specified period from the date of commencement of the first semester instruction, through a notification.

Eligibility Criteria
Bachelor of Engineering & Technology:
Pass or appearing in 2010 in 10+2 examination of CHSE or equivalent, with Physics and Mathematics alongwith one of the following subjects : Chemistry / Biotechnology / Computer Science / Biology.
OR
Diploma holders including those having less than 60% marks in aggregate from SCTE&VT, Orissa or equivalent are eligible for admission to 1st year Engg. / Technology courses and they have to appear in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics paper in the Joint Entrance examination.
Bachelor of Engineering & Technology (Lateral Entry)
Pass in 3 years diploma course in Engineering with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate from State Council of Technical Education and Training (SCTE&VT), Orissa or equivalent and for Pharmacy, pass in 2 years diploma course in Pharmacy with minimum 60% of marks in aggregate from Orissa State Board of Pharmacy (OSBP) or SCTE&VT for direct admission to the third semester degree courses. The candidate must be a permanent resident/native of Orissa. Results of final diploma examination must be available on the date of counselling. Candidates, whose results are not available on the day of counseling, will not be allowed to participate. There is no reservation of seats in various categories in lateral entry to degree engineering/Technology, pharmacy courses.
OR
Pass or appearing in 2010, for the Bachelor’s Degree examination of three years duration in Science from any University of Orissa or equivalent recognised by UGC and have passed with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate(First Division) with Mathematics at +3 level. Candidates having B. Sc. or +3 Sc. with mathematics as a subject are eligible to be admitted to any discipline of engineering as per availability of seats.
They are to submit the Permanent Resident Certificate (Appendix - I) at the time of counselling.
It is mandatory for all candidates to appear in the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by Government of Orissa or All India Engineering Entrance Examination(AIEEE) conducted by CBSE, Ministry of HRD, New Delhi or Joint Entrance Examination conducted by Orissa Private Engineering College Association (OPECA) to get a seat either through counseling or NRI quota.
It is mandatory for all candidates to appear in the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by Biju Patnaik University Technology, Rourkela or All India Engineering Entrance Examination(AIEEE) conducted by CBSE, Ministry of HRD, New Delhi or Joint Entrance Examination conducted by Orissa Private Engineering College Association (OPECA) to get a seat either through counseling or management quota.
Master in Computer Application (3 Years) 60 Seats
M. Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering (2 Years) 18 Seats
M. Tech. in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (2 Years) 18 Seats
Eligibility Criteria
Master in Computer Application
Pass or appearing in 2010, for the Bachelor’s Degree examination of three years duration in any discipline from any University of Orissa or equivalent recognised by UGC and having passed in Mathematics at 10+2 level. Business mathematics at +2 level are not permitted. There is no age limit to admission to MCA course.
M. Tech Programs
GATE qualified with B.Tech/B.E. degree in the respective engineering branches or in MCA/M.Sc. Computer science (for M.Tech in Computer science /IT branch only) /M. Sc. Electronics (for M.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering only) M. Sc. Polymer Science and polymer Chemistry (Polymer specialisation) (M.Tech in Plastic Engg), M. Sc. Polymer Chemistry, M. Sc. Chemistry, M. Sc. Physics (M.Tech in polymer nano technology) from a recognised University.
OR
Without GATE but with CGPA 6.75 (in a 10 point scale) or 60% marks in the respective engineering branches (B.Tech / B.E) or in MCA / M. Sc. Computer Science (for M. Tech in Computer Science/IT branch only)/ M. Sc. Electronics (for M.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engg. only)/ M. Sc. Polymer Science and polymer Chemistry (Polymer specialisation) (M.Tech in Plastic Engg), M.Sc. Polymer Chemistry, M. Sc. Chemistry, M. Sc. Physics (M.Tech in polymer nano technology) from a recognised university.
Candidates shall have to register as bonafide students with the University as per University regulations before commencement of instructions in first semester/ or third semester for lateral entry. No inter-college transfer shall be allowed. Under extraordinary circumstances however the University may transfer students from one affiliated Institution/College to another in the same program at any time during the continuation of the program without assigning any reason for the same
The admission procedure declared by Odisha JEE-2010 shall be applicable to all Institutes under BPUT.
