Department of Mechanical Engineering

Silicon West established the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2009 to provide traditional broad-based mechanical engineering education while augmenting it with teaching in new advances in the field such as robotics, automation, and CAD/CAM technology.

Courses in the curriculum include engineering thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, physical metallurgy, refrigeration engineering, computer integrated manufacturing, manufacturing technology, robotics, machine design, machine dynamics, etc.

The Dept. of ME faculty have advanced degrees in thermal engineering, CAD/CAM, manufacturing system design, and machine design and analysis. They use traditional and ICT-based teaching methods to ensure conceptual clarity, hands-on training, and advanced learning for students.
