Silicon West is well known for its discipline, academics, and transparency in administration. It is the most preferred private institute in western Odisha for technical education.

Yes. Silicon West is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) Odisha.

No. You can pursue a postgraduate degree at SiliconTech campus Bhubaneswar.

Silicon West in Sambalpur offers five undergraduate programs in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

Employability is rarely dependent only on your specific graduating degree.

Given the dynamic nature of technology change, recruiters prefer students who demonstrate employability, adequate knowledge in the interest areas, and learnability to acquire new skill sets and/or deepen their existing skill sets. This applies irrespective of the program that the student has studied.

Silicon West students from core branches of engineering are regularly recruited by leading companies both in the IT and other industries. In fact, students with deep knowledge in specific industry domains along with IT skills stand out during recruitment.

Choosing the right college is much more important than choosing a program. If you choose any program in a reputed college, then you will definitely gain more knowledge and get better employment opportunities.

Students should keep the original copies of the following documents ready for admission counseling – Marksheet & Pass Certificates of Classes 10 & 12, JEE (Main) Rank Card, Transfer Certificate, Nativity Certificate if applicable, and special reservation form with relevant documents as applicable.

Yes, 30% seats in each category of every engineering program are reserved for girls.

About 5% of seats in every private college is reserved for NRIs (Non Resident Indians). To get a NRI seat, you must have a rank in JEE (Main). Allocation of NRI seats are done through the OJEE central counseling. The fee is normally four times that of the usual college fee as per the government norms and guidelines. Vacant NRI seats can be allocated through the Spot Admission process for which you have to approach the college administration.

Yes. Vacant seats, if any, remaining after counseling are filled up through spot admission.

Yes, but the student has to participate in the OJEE counseling process on the basis of JEE (Main) rank for taking admission in engineering colleges of Odisha.

No. If you are seeking admission to B.Tech. in Engineering in any AICTE approved engineering college in Odisha (except IITs & deemed Universities) then you need to appear for the JEE (Main) examination.

Yes. We provide a receipt against the full amount paid towards the fee for income tax purposes. The receipt will also have a detailed break up of the components of the fee.

The fee remains constant for four years and is the same as what is paid in the first year.

The fee structure of the past year of engineering colleges in Odisha is available on the university website http://www.bput.org. You can also call the college directly to find out the fee structure.

Students have to submit the supporting documents as per the guidelines of the different schemes. Silicon West’s Nodal Officer promptly processes the application for scholarships.

Yes, there are at least 14 different schemes (state-specific or all-state) under which the scholarships are provided to a student. In addition, toppers from each branch are provided a scholarship of ₹12,000 per annum every year by the Institute, if they meet the criteria of Silicon Scholars Club.

Yes. Faculty and students are provided with partial/full financial assistance from the Institute for attending and presenting research papers in national or international conferences, workshops, symposia, and seminars. There is also an incentive program for publishing papers in Scopus indexed journals.

Yes. Faculty members and/or students involved in research projects are provided with facilities as per requirement.

Core branches are evergreen branches. Job prospects are always there. The important factors are how knowledgeable you are and your preparation.

Good. Around 70% of the eligible students get placed.

Several reputed companies, both Information Technology and Core companies, recruit students from Silicon West campus every year for their recruitment drives. Silicon West students are also sent for various off-campus recruitment drives. Our Industry Interface Cell works throughout the year to prepare and place the students from both campuses in good and genuine companies.

Yes. We provide in-house pre-placement training (PPT) spread over two semesters beginning from the 5th semester of B.Tech.

The PPT consists of classes in aptitude development, reasoning, verbal ability, soft skills, group discussion and personal interview. We also include a technical PPT module covering Data Structures with C, C++, Java, Databases with SQL and Networking.

Company specific on-line Mock Tests, Simulated Mock Campus and Special Warm-up classes are conducted just before the beginning of the campus recruitment drive.

Yes, of course. You have to qualify the GATE with a good score.

Silicon West has good facilities for indoor and outdoor games, and other cultural activities. There are courts for basketball, volleyball, and badminton, ground for cricket and football ground, and facilities to play table-tennis, carom etc. inside the hostels.

Yes, we have a Book Bank facility in the library. Each student is provided with five books for the whole semester. In addition, up to three reference books can be issued for 14 days. A few specific books are issued for overnight only. Students of the Scholars Club can borrow two more books.

Yes, Silicon West has a Central Library. The library has 21,864 volumes of books, 3948 titles, more than 2000 reference books and reference titles, 22 periodicals subscriptions. It also has a reading zone with a seating capacity for 60 students.

Yes. We have a fleet of buses (32 to 52 seaters) which ply through major routes of the city. You can get the college bus within about a kilometer of your home depending on your location.

Yes. The library is open whenever there is a requirement.

Yes. We have a dedicated canteen serving only vegetarian food. Dishes without onion and garlic are also served on request.

The canteen serves vegetarian and non-vegetarian menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for students and staff. The menu is defined by the student’s canteen committee and is the same for students as well as staff.

Yes. Specialist doctors visit the campuses on specified days every week. We also have a 24×7 ambulance facility for use during an emergency.

Reputed multi-specialty hospitals are located near the Silicon West campus.

Yes. Silicon West has separate hostels for boys and girls inside the campus.
