National Workshop on Emerging Technologies in Electrical Power Engineering (NWET-2020) With Focus on “Power with Quality, Reliability, Safety & Security (PQRS)” from 27th - 29th February 2020 Organized by Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar With technical sponsorship from IEEE Bhubaneswar Sub-Section PES Chapter and All India Power Engineer's Group (SPARK…..Ignited to share).

Workshop Objectives

NWET is a forum for the industry & academia to discuss & share knowledge on emerging technologies & practices. NWET-2009 and NWET- 2010 were conducted with focus on HVDC, FACTS and Advances in grid management and power trading. NWET-2011 and NWET-2012 focused on Energy conservation and modern power distribution. NWET-2013, NWET-2014 and NWET- 2015 discussed on Energy policies and Regulations, modern grid management and issues related to Grid Integrated Renewable Energy System with Design Consideration & Challenges. NWET-2017 concentrated on Present Research Trends in Power System Operation and Control. In 2018, NWET focused on Advances in Power Transmission. NWET-2019 was a unique one and was based on Smart Energy Management and Protection System (SEMPS) and outstanding response was shown from both industries as well as academia.
NWET - 2020 will be concentrating on Power with Quality, Reliability, Safety & Security (PQRS). Electrical power has become the lifeline of human being. Effective use of this has been considered as a big challenge and concern to everyone, starting from the Government bureaucrats, technocrats to even general public. Scientists, engineers and technocrats have come forward to share their thoughts for its availability both in terms of quality and quantity. The whole gamut of energy related problems on Economic and Social Infrastructure of our societies now demands and deserves urgent, cogent and incisive consideration and attention for the improvisation of the present practice of the energy consumption along with its quality. So the theme of NWET-2020 has been considered and focussed for a brainstorming discussion on Electrical Power with Quality, Reliability, Safety and Security (PQRS).
Deregulation has increased pressures on electric power utilities to cut costs and has focused emphasis on reliability and quality of electric service. Regulators and utility consumers are paying considerable attention to reliability and quality. In competitive electricity markets, customers are pressing for lower costs and better reliability and power quality. Moreover, power supply quality issues and the resulting problems are the consequences of the increasing use of solid state switching devices, non-linear and power electronically switched loads, unbalanced power systems, lighting controls, computers and data processing equipment as well as industrial plant rectifies and inverters.
NWET-2020 shall be a platform for academic researchers, industry players and utility experts to deliberate interact and share the knowledge and experiences on advanced technologies. We will have with us the eminent speakers from IITs, NITs, PRDC Bengaluru, CPRI Bengaluru, Power Grids, and OPTCL Odisha; with their in-depth knowledge they can enlighten and make us knowledgeable about PQRS. We have introduced this time, the special features like
• Q3 Program: (Quiz on Quality and Quantity Power) among selected Student delegates
• I3 Program: (Industry, Institute Interactive Program among the panellist from reputed Industries and Institutes to discuss on the special theme DSM (Demand Side Management).
• D3 (Delegates’ Decision with Direction): Special Delegates’ interactive program with selected speakers on PQRS.
• With regular technical talk from eminent speakers.
