The Electronics and Telecommunication department offers the following UG and PG courses affiliated to Biju Pattnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Orissa.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
The Programme Educational Objectives (PEO) of Electronics & Communication Engineering undergraduate program are:
PEO1: To provide knowledge of science and engineering fundamental for an electronics & communication engineer and equip with proficiency of mathematical foundations and inculcate competent problem solving ability. (Fundamental Knowledge & Core Competence).
PE02: To design, optimize and maintain communication systems in tune with community needs and environmental concerns. (Competency for Real World).
PE03: To exhibit leadership capability, triggering social and economical commitment and inculcate community services and protect environment (Professionalism & Social Responsibility).
PEO4: To pursue higher studies/engage in a technical/managerial role in diverse teams, grow professionally in their career through continued education & training of technical and management skills. (Life-long Learning).

  • 1. Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering.
    Total Intake: 180
    The students for UG program are admitted through Orissa Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) and All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE).
  • 2 . Master of Technology in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering.
    Total Intake: 18
    The students for PG program are admitted through Post Graduate admission Test (PGAT), conducted annually by Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Orissa.

In order to facilitate hands on learning, the laboratories of the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications are well equipped with required Hardware and software resources.

Digital Signal Processing Laboratory
The Digital signal processing Laboratory caters all the facilities prescribed by the university curriculum, as well as undergraduate studies. The lab is well equipped with 26 number of high performance computers. Software packages such as MATLAB, LabVIEW, Scilab, Octave, Visual C++ and Code composer studio are installed in the systems. Real time signal processing studies are carried out using TMS320C6713 and TMS320C50 Processors.

Basic Electronics Laboratory
The Basic electronics laboratory introduces students with fundamental building blocks of electronics. This lab is well equipped with sufficient number of CROs, Function Generators, Universal Trainer Kits and Digital Multimeters to enable students to perform basic experiments in analog and digital electronics. The students are strongly encouraged to build their circuits on Breadboards and Printed Circuit Boards rather than using experimental kits usually available in the Lab. This sharpens their assembly, testing and debugging skills with respect to analog and digital circuits. All basic electronic devices and their characteristics, applications can be studied using these devices; also small electronic circuits can be constructed and checked.

Analogue & Digital Circuits Laboratory
The Analog and digital laboratory has all the discrete components required for the experiments prescribed by the University, apart from sophisticated measuring equipments. Along with the experiments specified in the syllabus, new experiments have been designed and included to enhance the students, insights on practical knowledge.

Microprocessor & Microcontroller Laboratory
The microprocessor lab has been equipped with all relevant instruments and the latest in microprocessor based technology so that an in depth experience may be given to students as par with industry. Microprocessor lab is equipped with embedded development boards for study of 8085/86 microprocessors, 8051 Microcontrollers and various interfacing devices. The lab has Ride IDE and C cross complier based emulators.

Project Laboratory
Project lab has 10 high performance PCs loaded with MATLAB, LABVIEW and other software packages. Hardware development unit has dicrete electronic components, soldering equipments, bread boards, oscilloscopes and function generators.

Embedded System Laboratory
Embedded system laboratory is well equipped with adequate number of high performance computers. All the systems are loaded with latest version application and system softwares like LabVIEW, MATLAB, SPICE simulator, XILINX ISE. The laboratory has equipments such as TMS-320C6713 based DSK, Image daughter card, image acquisition module, Cyclone -II FPGA kit, MSP 430 kit and OMAP kit.

Communication Engineering Laboratory
This lab takes care of the understanding and hands on training of various analog and digital communication techniques. It provides ample opportunities for a student to understand various nuances of analog and digital communication. This lab is equipped with various instruments such as CROs, Function Generators, and Communication Trainer Kits and many more.

Advanced Communication system Laboratory
This lab has requisite equipments for study of Microwave, Optical and Satellite communication systems. This lab has three Microwave Benches, Fiber Optics Trainer Kits, Satellite Trainer kits, Spectrum Analyzer, TV Trainer kits, Radar Trainer kits, DSOs, Antenna Trainer kits and simulation software such as LabVIEW, MATLAB and Circuit Maker. It provides ample opportunities for a student to understand various nuances of the complicated and advanced communication systems.
