Background

Silicon Institute of Technology started its first campus at Bhubaneswar in 2001 and with the completion of its nine glorious years it ventured into Western Odisha with its second campus at Sambalpur in 2009. Spread on a lush green campus, Silicon Sambalpur, also known as Silicon West is now a familiar name in the field of technical education of Odisha. Since its inception, the institute has been growing by adapting to modern and innovative technologies in order to cater to the students’ needs. The strength of Silicon lies in its determination to go beyond teaching through creative learning and teamwork. The team of dedicated personnel comprising the initiators, advisors, members of management, members of faculty & staff through their cooperative and relentless efforts has been significantly contributing towards the swift growth of the Institute.

Infrastructure

Silicon West is stretched across 37 acres of land in the outskirt of the town. It has come out with a majestic academic building and hostels for boys and girls spread on a lush green environment. Moreover, it has a state-of-the-art workshop for Mechanical Engineering that facilitates the students in learning through practical exposure. A Digital Language Lab accelerates the students’ communication skills which is first of its kind in Western Odisha. Besides, it has come up with a self managed canteen that caters to Siliconites with hygienic food and helps them experience a home away from home. With a view to instilling academic rigour, a modern library with cubicles (personal reading space) for students and plentiful of books, journals, magazines and newspapers has been developed. Besides, all the laboratories are equipped with adequate number of instruments and apparatus.
